Svalbard/Spitsberg June 2008: Polar Bears and Arctic Ice

Sailing on an ice strengthened ship around Arctic waters is reminiscent of Antarctica – you get the ice, migratory and resident sea birds and if you replace the Penguins of the south with Polar Bears in the north, you get the picture. Stunningly beautiful scenery, no TVs, phones or Blackberries and Svalbard is so accessible, you can see a lot in only a week. We are just back – here is our trip report – and watch this space as our next trip to Svalbard to find more Polar Bears is being planned for June 2010.
