Very simply, we want to share our enthusiasm and knowledge with you.
We are passionate about photography, wildlife and travel. We have traveled extensively and we continue to explore new countries and new wildlife experiences. Trying always to be in the right place at the right time, with the right camera equipment and in good company, we are proud of the portfolio of travel and wildlife photographs we have created. They are very important reminders of ‘magical moments’ on exciting expeditions, of adventures in the bush and the people we have met.
The bush frequently looks quiet, as if nothing’s going on but with good guides and patience, you will find nothing could be further from the truth. When others would move on because they only want to give you a few hours game drive per day or because they want to put lots of shallow ticks in the box of animals seen, we will let you wait. And it is then that we will frequently get the wildlife spectacle. So come and sit it out with us – let’s follow a hungry pride of lions until dusk and be there when they pull down a buffalo, let’s spot a cheetah and stay with it, patiently, and get to see it kill. Keep us company whilst we wait for those wildebeest to cross because when they do, you will be completely in awe of their urge to migrate and their instinct to survive. You will see what a safari is really about.
Our trips are not cheap but if you are really serious about seeing wildlife spectacles, we challenge you to find better value. We accompany every trip, we only take small groups and we will show you an unsanitised travel experience. We are generous with tuition and information sharing and you can even try out some of our Canon gear (which includes EOS 1DS Mark II bodies and 500mm and 600mm F4 telephoto lenses.) We will be surprised and disappointed if you are not returning from the trip with a portfolio of high impact photos.
You will be getting the very best on offer but this does not mean a swish lodge with a few hours of game drives thrown in. Instead, you will benefit from well thought out trips, designed to uncompromisingly get the very best from a location, whether it be the Masai Mara in Kenya, Ruaha or Katavi in Tanzania or seeing the Gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda. With us you are paying for full on safari, up to 10 - 12 hours of game viewing per day if you want it, great food, a ‘genuine’ bush experience with most creature comforts, lots of room in the vehicles, our informal but effective tuition on the photography side and being with a very small group of like minded travelers.
If you have ever been on a trip where your interests have been compromised by a large group wanting to do different things, by not being given options, by group members who want to sleep in and indulge in long lunches back at camp and as a result you have missed out on the action, then we are for you. Similarly, if you have been on trips and have been excited by what you have seen but your photos just haven’t done it justice, take a look at our photos in the database and under the Expeditions sections of this site. We will help you to bring back photos of the same impact.
For those of you who want to get away from mainstream holidays and crowded vehicles, who want to see everything out there, not just what a tour operator can be bothered showing you, who prefer a ‘best-comforts-real bush experience’ to a sanitised lodge, who may want to learn a new skill whilst on holiday rather than do the usual beach holiday again, who want to come back from well earned holidays with a portfolio of eye catching wildlife shots - not a disappointing dot in the corner of the photograph which may or may not be a lion – then Shutterspeedtravel is for you.
