We accompany all of the trips and as well as ourselves we have a local guide who knows the reserve or location well and will know what to look for and who to speak to in order to get us in good position for what we want to see.
Adam Bates
A fraud investigator based in London, I have been taking photographs for the past 35 years. The last 20 of these, I have tended to focus on wildlife – on the ground, in the air, and underwater. Since the late 1980’s I have been a user of Canon equipment and in 2005, after much deliberation and waiting for technology improvements, I moved to digital in anticipation of the challenges of the Ugandan rain forest. I am now a digital convert (although I still took 30 rolls of Velvia to the Antarctic). I am especially fond of Africa, having travelled to Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Lesotho, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana and of course Kenya.

Born in the Northern Territory, Australia, and for many years a banker and a London City head-hunter, like many Australians I am a keen traveler and a fan of the great outdoors. I have always been drawn to photographs, particularly wildlife, portraits and black and whites and I discovered the magic of long lens photography in 2002. I vividly remember the first time I looked through Adam’s 600mm lens whilst on safari in Tanzania and suddenly realising my existing equipment was not up to capturing whiskers on leopards and eye lashes on elephants and that’s what I wanted to capture. So my camera bag promptly expanded to include ‘My Precious’, a Canon 500 mm lens. I love travelling to Asia and Africa in particular, with a strong sense of adventure and a passion for observing as well as photographing wildlife.
