Bonobos in the The Democratic Republic of Congo - Xmas 2007

Here is a short trip report on our very first, but hopefully not last, trip to the DRC where we were spoiled by the fascinating behaviour each day of 62 Bonobos hanging out in their protected sanctuary forest as well as nursery Bonobos who had their very own surrogate mothers to care for them until they were old enough and confident to join the big Bonobos.

We were fascinated by the often likeness of Bonobos to humans, and their often dissimilarity to Chimpanzees. Their behaviour needs to be seen to be believed! Bonobos are fabulous subjects - we were able to watch them each day for many hours at a time. So yes, we will be heading back and yes, please let us know if you would like to join us on our next trip which will in all likelihhod be in July or August 2009.
