CAD 5,500 per person plus flights to Vancouver plus one-way flight from Vancouver to Prince Rupert plus any accommodation before we sail.
Departing Prince Rupert: Thursday, September 24, 2010
Sailing dates: Thursday September 23 – Saturday, October 2, 2010
Returning to Bella Bella and Vancouver Sunday, October 3, 2010
Ten days/nine nights living aboard and sailing some of the northern British Columbia coastline amongst breathtaking scenery and focusing on observing Spirit Bears, Black Bears and Whales as well as Sea Lions, Porpoises, Grizzlies and very occasionally, transient Orcas. Our small group of six will enjoy a very special experience as the waters will be rich with salmon and krill, attracting Bears and Whales alike. It has been possible on this trip to be watching Spirit Bear cubs eating crabapples on the shore and have whales breaching nearby at the same time! The beauty and wildlife of this area was captured recently on BBC1’s Natures Great Events where the salmon runs were depicted. We will also have the opportunity to meet local First Nation Gitga’at at Hartley Bay and Klemtu and we will visit their ‘Big House’ at Klemtu, the cultural focal point of the village.
